How to Wear Black Converse: My Experience
Up until summer break of 2017, and ever since fifth grade, I'd owned a pair of these bright blue converse. And as if that wasn't "loud" enough, I'd also switch off wearing them with tie die or curled laces. Creative, right? Fun, right? Yeah, but then it would be really hard to pair those converse with basically any colors except blue, rainbow, black and white. Then they started falling apart and I had to throw them away. During the end of the school and summer, I bought and wore a pair of even more wacky converse: Clementine converse. Yes, that's right, I owned a pair of shoes that had a photo collage of Clementines on them. Creative, right? Fun, right? Yeah, but it was practically impossible to match them with anything. Going into ninth grade this year, I decided that I wanted to own a pair of converse that would be easy to match up with anything, whether it was a nice skirt or athletic shorts. So, I went to Journeys and got a pair of classic, vintage, black converse. Then I went on Instagram and Google for teen style inspiration (just to get some ideas). Lo and behold, about 80% of the outfits had white converse, not black. And then another 10% (that actually had black converse) were styled a bit more goth and edgy, so not me (this is not to offend anyone, just my own preferences). Add in a 5% (again, with black converse) that were being worn by grown women (rather than teens) with blazers or some other adult-like clothing that's not part of my wardrobe. It was only the last 5% that even remotely expressed my regular (or dream, lol) fashion choices. So, for those of you who are also struggling with styling your black converse, I've created a mini guide on how I wear my Chuck Taylors. Enjoy!
