How to Take Care of Contacts
So, contacts. They're really easy to take care of, but they're also really easy to lose, or to forget to take care of, and then get an eye infection. No pressure. I've had contacts for about a year now, and can honestly say that they're a test of responsibility. Like, if you can't take care of contacts, make sure to let the parents of the child you're babysitting know, so that they don't trust you and fire you. You're welcome.
1. Materials/Things Needed
Make sure that you have the following items: A contacts cleaner, a contacts case, a sink, and about a year's supply of contacts. Why you need a cleaner and case for your contacts is pretty self-explanatory. You need a sink because whenever you put in or take out your contacts, YOU MUST WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER, or you'll, you know, probably get an eye infection. About the contacts supply- you'll get about a year's worth from your eye doctor.
2. Putting Them In
I've found that my hands are a little slippery after being washed and dried(idk why), so I'd suggest opening up the contacts case before washing them. Then you wash them. And if I have to explain how to do that you're sad, no offense. When putting them in, stand in front of a mirror to be able to see what you're doing better. The contact should be on a fingertip of your dominant hand in a half-cup shape. Use your other hand to pull your eyelids apart to make the process easier. Once the contact is in your eye, you might have to move it around a bit until it sits in the place of your eye where it should be (where you can see well and nothing's blurry). Do the same for the other eye. At first you might feel a little weird and uncomfortable, understandably, since there's something in your eye, but not for long.
3. While Wearing Them
The first couple weeks that they're in, don't wear them for more than like 5-6 hours. Don't shower in them, don't go swimming in them, and try to avoid rubbing your eyes while wearing them.
4. Taking Them Out
Again, DON'T FORGET TO WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER! Use your dominant hand to take them out- use two fingers this time. I sort of pinch-but-not-really to get them out of my eye. Don't forget which contact came from eye. The right eye contact goes in the right part of the case and the left contact in the left. Make sure that before you put them in that you've emptied the case of the contact cleaner from the last time you wore your contacts (if this is your first time then worry about this the second time, not now). Then fill up about 80-90% of the case with the contact cleaner, and then close the case (and make sure it's closed tightly because if it's not, and you ever accidentally drop the case, the contacts could fall out and the cleaner will spill).
Some quick notes:

Some quick notes:
- If you have sensitive eyes then avoid wearing contacts because your eyes will react
- Switch out the old contacts for new ones every two weeks unless your eye doctor tells you otherwise
- You can go swimming with them if you're wearing goggles, but just make sure that they're on tightly
- This is specifically for clear lenses, colored lenses might have some different care directions
Happy contact lensing!
